FIRE Foundry Program

We offer a training experience to prepare individuals from all backgrounds for a rewarding and challenging career in fire services.

What we provide

Through tailored services, mentorship, and training, we want to increase access to well-paid careers for underrepresented individuals. Through the FIRE Foundry Program, we provide:

  • Mentorship. We know that participants have many different journeys to fire service. Our staff will work with you to create a personalized pathway to career opportunities. You’ll have the chance to work one-on-one with Fire Department staff throughout the year.
  • Education. Through our partners at College of Marin, you’ll take the coursework required for our Fire recruits. The courses include many of the prerequisites for Fire Academies. FIRE Foundry will provide textbooks and course fees that are not covered by grants or financial aid. You’ll also attend training courses led by Fire Department staff on topics like water and rope rescue.
  • Support services.  The FIRE Foundry aims to reduce barriers to entry into this program. The FIRE Foundry offers housing support, food support, and other resources to recruits.
  • A pathway to employment. This program offers a great jumping off point into the Fire service or Fire adjacent careers. During the program, you will be offered support on resumes and interview skills, as well as work experience options with Conservation Corps North Bay. The work experience option (Foundry Fuels crew) offers full- or part-time positions for those interested in this option.

Application
